Cascade on Mt. Belford climb

Beautiful cascading waterfall climbing up Missouri Gulch on the way to Mt. Belford, Oxford and Missouri Mountain in late August. Low clouds, mist and overcast gave the scene a dark moody feel. Lots of water moving down the mountain.

Rainy day runoff.

Fast water cascading down a steep creek bed after a rainstorm. Not quite a waterfall. You should have heard it. Powerful!

October morning.

Golden glow in a wide, slow spot on an otherwise rushing creek. Autumn leaves on the brush and floating in the water.

Rushing Water

An early November snow coats limbs and rocks along this rushing creek. Several small waterfalls like this along the way rushing with water from the melting snow. Temperature was just below freezing with an overcast sky.

la Plata Peak creek.

On a climb of la Plata Peak in July. Rushing water with lots of plants and flowers. Camped next to this creek at tree line before going up the next morning. Lush and beautiful..

Perfect Beauty

Below zero morning in January. Total stillness. No birds anywhere. The only sound was faint burbling of water running under the ice.

Evening waterfall on Mt. Sneffels climb.

A waterfall rushes down from melting glaciers above. Evening near camp on a climb of Mt. Sneffels. Yankee Boy basin is lush wet, with lots of wildflowers.

Coldwater Creek.

Icy water flowing through snow and ice covered rocks in a high narrow canyon. Warm light reflecting into the shadows from a sunlit cliff outside the hollow.

Early Winter Creek.

Creek runs gently among boulders shaped and polished by thousands of years of moving water. Quiet this time of year, but a roaring torrent during the early Spring snowmelt. Heard a few birds splashing.
